I?m honestly still in disbelief at what happened to me at this hotel.
I was mistakenly given a room that had already been assigned to another guest. When that guest arrived, the staff?s solution? They entered my room without permission and moved every single one of my belongings to another room ? without ever speaking to me or confirming who I was. No warning. No consent. Just a missed call from a number I didn?t recognize and no voicemail. Imagine coming back to your hotel room at 10 PM and finding everything gone.
I felt completely violated and unsafe. I returned to reception and said I would be checking out. They didn?t offer any help ? I had to insist they find me another hotel. Head office refused at first, and it was only because one staff member (Rais) pushed for it that I was eventually moved to a different location. I had to leave the hotel at 11 PM and wake up at 7 AM to move my car, all after a day of commuting from London.
I also had a future booking at the same hotel, which I now refuse to use. I asked for a refund, which any reasonable hotel would issue in this situation. Instead, Travelodge hid behind ?saver rate? terms ? even after admitting the entire situation was their fault.
Here?s what they admitted in writing:
Dear Jo,
Thank you for your email.
Feedback from our customers is essential to be able to provide the best possible service for our guests at all times. Thank you for taking the time to contact us following your stay at our Milton Keynes Shenley Church End Hotel.
I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your visit.
I am really sorry to learn of the issues you encountered upon check in at the hotel. I understand that you were mistakenly assigned a room that was already occupied. When our staff discovered the error, they moved your belongings without reaching out to you, as they were unable to contact you before relocating your things.
I understand how shocking it must have been to arrive back at the hotel to not meet your things in the room and we sincerely apologize on behalf of the hotel team.
We would love for all of our guests to feel safe when staying with us, and I am really sorry to learn that this incident made you feel unsafe. I understand that the hotel team were able to relocate you to another hotel as requested.
Although, this does not take away the fact that you had been inconvenienced, however, I want to assure you that this has been raised with the hotel, to ensure that all of our staff are trained accordingly on our check-in and room assignment process to prevent this from happening in the future.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.
As a token of apology, I have processed a full refund of £38.99 to the card used to make the booking.
Regarding your future bookings, unfortunately we would be unable to refund this as you have booked under a saver rate.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I will ensure your feedback is passed onto our Experience Team and our Hotel Manager, making them aware of your comments.
Even though they acknowledged moving my belongings without permission, they still refused to refund the next stay. There?s no excuse for that. This wasn?t a small inconvenience ? this was a serious breach of trust and guest safety, and their lack of accountability is appalling.
I won?t ever return to this location or book with Travelodge again. I strongly urge others to think twice before trusting this brand.

Had a really good experience there.
Great staff, very clean rooms and good rates for a multi-night stay.
Astin on the front desk was always smiling and really helpful (taxis, suggestions for food and drink, etc) - a credit to the business.
Located right next to Miller & Carter too and convenient for Milton Keynes sites and places to go.
Small shopping complex a few hundred yards away... chippy, convenience store, gym and Subway.
Would recommend this place for the staff and location.

Although it was only 20c during the day, the room was 25c at night & almost impossible to sleep in. There was 1 small fan (no aircon).
Dated room & a view of a roof (229) & broken glass found under one of the kids beds.
Stayed 2 nights, Could not have stayed a 3rd & will not be back!

Really warm room and expect one small desk fan on a hot day. Poor cleaning and customer service. Avoid!

Room was on ground floor by entrance, which is shared with entrance to the pub next door. There were no net curtains so we had to close the curtains to get any privacy. There was a lot of noise from the pub, and again early in the morning. The lighting in the room was poor, just one light by the door and bedside lights that gave little light.

Stayed here four times now and always been impressed with my room and the service I have received from the friendly staff. Best Travelodge in town, for sure!

Had to wait 10 minutes and call the number before anyone turned up at reception. Very rude receptionist checked me in - shouted when I said pardon.
Room was situated at the end of the corridor. The constant fan and generator noise from downstairs/Miller and Carter gave me a massive headache, as well as the extremely strong smell of steak wafted in straight from the fan below my room window being off putting as a vegetarian

Useful place to stay. A little dated. Clean.
Outside of building needs maintenance
Door security is old fashioned key locks rather than digital locks and no security chain or similar for guests
WiFi terrible - paid for but couldn?t connect
Poor mobile phone signal area making the WiFi issues more irritating
Didn?t like the breakfast boxes - didn?t see a healthy option

Room was so hot, guttering was over flowing outside which showd lack of maintenance. Just not the best I've stayed
