Nice place to stop during shopping. The Place to Eat at John Lewis Milton Keynes is clean, bright, and has a relaxing vibe, which makes it perfect for a quick break. There?s plenty of seating, so it?s easy to find a spot even when it?s a bit busy.
The food was good ? fresh and came out pretty quickly. Not mind-blowing, but definitely tasty and nicely presented. Prices are okay for what you get, though slightly on the higher side compared to regular cafés.
Staff were friendly and helpful, which added to the nice atmosphere. Only small downside is that during peak hours it can get a little noisy and queues can build up, but that?s pretty normal in a popular place like this.
Overall, very happy with my visit. Not quite perfect, but still a great option if you?re shopping in John Lewis and want a decent meal or coffee break. I?ll be back for sure.

Yet again poor quality fish and chips meal, have given benefit of the doubt on numerous occasions, have discussed with restaurant managers who seem to sympathise with little commitment and a weak apology. Today chips were stodgy and luke warm, there would be more fish in four fish fingers (BirdsEye) of course, peas were cold, have now finally given up, no point in raising a complaint because there no bothered. What has happened to John Lewis of great standards and care.
Very disappointed customer.

Not as good as it used to be service is often very slow due to not enough staff serving on a Saturday afternoon.

The cafe was completely overwhelming with crowds of people milling round trying to find the various queues. I wanted soup, sandwich, coffee and cake. This meant joining 3 different queues! I had to enlist the help of my husband to queue for coffee and cake whilst I got soup. I gave up on the sandwich and will grab something elsewhere that is not so frenetic.
There was one young man serving on the sandwich and soup counter. As the sandwich counter had a massive queue he was unaware of me and another person waiting for soup. I waited at least 5 minutes before asking him if anyone was serving soup. He was polite, apologetic and helpful but he was obviously and understandably overwhelmed. Too few staff and an unnecessarily complicated queuing system.

Popped in to purchase a few things and husband & I decided to grab a light lunch & a coffee beforehand upstairs in A PLACE TO EAT. It was very quiet but as a Monday lunchtime in Jan we thought that was normal. We both chose Soup. Alarm bells initially as the server picked up a dirty bowl and was about to put the soup in until my husband pointed it out - it was really obvious and I didn't even need my glasses! Despite it being very quiet, a lot of the Tables were dirty and there was a lady near us who was dressed immaculately with her handbag over her shoulder going around clearing the tables - we were not sure if she was a member of Staff or a customer who had simply got fed up with the mess as no uniform....it was very strange. Anyway, the soup was was truly awful, one of the worst ever with such a strange 'wrong' taste. The food was barely warm. The coffee and Fruit Juice were OK. Unfortunately, since eating here we have both felt really quite poorly all afternoon and we felt perfectly well before and it's definitely food related. I will never frequent again and really wish we hadn't today...

?This morning I went to Clarins for a massage. On the way, I bought a bottle of water.
After leaving Clarins, I stopped to eat something, and the lady made me pay again for the water I had already bought.
Shameful. I explained.?

Second visit in a month and both times most of the table and chairs were dirty. Crumbs all over the tables and empty crisp and drinks bottles left. Both visits at opening time too. Seems like no cleaners are employed. Poor from John Lewis.

My server was really smiley and friendly, great engagement. I marked the food down because it was £7.50 for a chicken, pesto and rocket sandwich that was pre-made and looked like it had wilted during the day. The cafe is clean and bright and well spaced, you?re not cramped up against other tables - but it?s just not fair value for money.

What a dissapointing lunch today at this restaurant.
Having been before I was looking forward to the usual experience of lovely food and service in a clean setting. But today was just the opposite.
The hot food was limited, dry and unappealing. Service was slow and unorganised
The seating area was unclean with used crockery left on tables and food on the floor.
This is not what I expected to see at this store.
John lewis rates its standards as higher than other stores but there was no evidence of that here.
It will be a while before I will be temptedto cone back

Hot food always seem to run out. Poor choices for vegans. Nice staff but slow service.
