Wonderful atmosphere, very friendly and cosy. Staff are so helpful and caring. Molly and Adam are very friendly and lovely. Molly is the manager and incredibly caring and hospitable. Highly recommended. They also have a wonderful tipee outside. The whole vibe is awesome. Can't praise them enough.

The Nag?s Head could not have been more perfect for our wedding reception. They hosted us and 40 other guests in the Tipee 3 days before Christmas and it was magical. We simply left all our decorations there with a plan for each table and when we walked in as man and wife, it was even more glorious than we had imagined. The team were outstanding. The food was exceptional and was prepared by one of the finest chefs we?ve ever deal with, Jack. His attention to detail, his professionalism and mastery of skill was just outstanding and every single guest at our reception is still talking about how special the food was. It made our day even more perfect than we could have imagined and we cannot recommend this venue any more.

The menu featured the strong flavours of red meat, beef and venison, and mussels. As vegetarians we did not have high expectations of the veggie option. We were so wrong! The roasted celeriac, pearl barley and hazelnut main was a powerhouse of earthy, delicious flavours. We had a glass of shiraz and a a glass of sauvignon blanc, which both complemented the main perfectly in their different ways. The apple and plum crumble was freshly cooked and a generous portion. Worth the wait! There are clever details in the food, too, such as the nutty-flavoured cooked butter served with the bread. Staff were all lovely and it's clear that the chefs have skills which can go well beyond grilled steaks and burgers.

I felt compelled to write a review after reading some of the very negative ones below. I obviously can?t speak for anyone else?s experience but we had dinner here last night with some friends. It was the first time I?d been in about 3 years - I used to go very often. It was quiet for a Friday night I thought, and the carpet is truly awful. That?s about where my negative comments end! The staff were absolutely lovely, so friendly and attentive, we even met the chef who was genuinely interested in our experiences. The food was delicious! Definitely a cut above your average pub food - yes it?s pricey - but it really was good. The little ?nibbles? were a real joy - the pork belly in hoisin sauce with homemade pickles was honestly the best thing I?d eaten in ages! The fish was exceptional the steak was cooked absolutely perfectly and was brilliant quality. We had delicious wine which was a very reasonable price. The deserts were also yummy. I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend it as a place for a lovely meal. The toilets were also lovely and very clean and with lovely toiletries - just little tokens of care that show someone is thinking about the experience.

Absolutely delicious food - especially the fish and chips, and the buratta salad. Very friendly staff, value for money, and lovely big roaring fire! A must visit

we stay here quite often when we visit friends in the area! i?m sorry to say that we won?t be staying again! The room was very noisy overnight, door banging etc! The girl on breakfast was lovely, very attentive and polite! I ordered the full english! everything was swimming in grease! the black pudding was burst to a crisp, so much as i couldn?t cut it! We were really dissatisfied with the breakfast this time and i?m sorry to say that we won?t be visiting again! For the price we paid it wasn?t worth it!

We were excited to visit the Nags Head, as it had been fully booked when we were in Great Missenden a month earlier. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly seated. Orders were taken and our starters came out in reasonable time. Then we waited. And waited. After 40 minutes, we flagged down a waitress to ask where our mains might be. She headed off and returned shortly, explaining that the kitchen was backed up, as there had been a rush of orders put in at the same time. This explanation would have been more compelling if we hadn't watched a steady stream of food flowing out to every table except ours for the duration of our wait. After another 20 minutes, our food arrived. It was fine--although the pork belly came not with crackling but a gelantinous layer of skin.We pondered dessert, and hoped to order. But after two full hours at the table, we got up and paid at the bar, our dinner plates still uncleared, dessert unordered and the four of us unsatisfied.

Good quality food but the atmosphere and service need to improve to justify the high prices. Not really a pub but also not a restaurant.

Booked for ? Sunday lunch ? for a family of 4. Arrived with both beef and lamb sold out. Didn?t tell us until we actually trying to order. Not a good start.Children are 5 & 9. They offered kids size of the pork. Food is standard. The pork cracking was soft and spongy but I accept that.Bill. Turned out to be kids size pork is only £2 cheaper than the adult size but half the meat!!! What is rip off. Adults £20.95, kids 18.95. If the waitress have told us the price before us ordering I would definitely be ordering the adult sizes.Never ever again and one to avoid.Ps. They got our drinks wrong too but we can?t be bothered to tell the waitress ?.

Really good food. We visited as a family of 4. We all really enjoyed our food. The Sunday roasts were extremely good and the cauliflower side dish was delicious. We?d booked at 1.30pm, think if you do visit booking is advisable. Limited spaces and busy. Service was a bit slow but you could see the servers were working really hard. I think better planing and upping staffing would definitely help especially at the prices, but it did not take away from an amazing Sunday roast.

Four of us had Leg of Lamb, which was impossible to cut and inedible . Roast potatoes were not cooked from scratch and also inedible Yorkshire pudding was cold The only meal that was passable was the Halibut Even the apple and plum crumble, at £9.95, was a fruit compote topped with muesli However, our waitress service was very good Thank goodness we had a great social time

My friends live in the area and took me here because it's their favorite pub. I soon learned why! I had the croquettes as an appetizer and the venison as my main meal, but even the BUTTER for the bread is divine! The croquettes were flavorful and delicious. The venison was tender and juicy. A crumble for dessert topped off the meal perfectly. On top of all of it, the chef requested our feedback after the meal! (I got the impression their menu changes quite a bit.) I honestly didn't have any notes?it was my first experience with venison and I'm so glad I had it here. One of my friends had a minor suggestion regarding the sauce on her dish, and the suggestion was accepted by our server with grace. I've worked with a lot of chefs over the years, and the one constant is a massive ego. (Sometimes deserved...sometimes not.) The fact that a chef is both talented enough to prepare food at this level AND humble enough to accept that there's room for improvement? I've literally never heard of anything like that. A lot of restaurants say they care about the customer, but the Nags Head SHOWS it.I don't drink anymore, but my friend works in a brewery and he got 3 pints, so I take it the beer selection is good. The service was fast without rushing us, and so very friendly! I cannot speak highly enough about them and their delightful smiles. (Maybe I'm just used to frosty New Englanders and fake Angelenos, but I felt the staff welcomed us like family?even bringing some water for my friends' dog!) Our main server was a young woman whom I believe was coming off of a double-shift, but she was as cheerful and friendly as if she had just arrived at work. A man took over around dessert time and was similarly friendly. Both were extremely patient with my friends' dog, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere is extremely charming?though we were seated in an area with very low ceilings, so tall folk beware! (I am a Hobbit, so it didn't bother me, and it didn't matter once we were seated.)The clientele is wonderful as well?I kid you not, a very kind man bought us a round of drinks because he appreciated how emotionally open we were being in our conversation with each other. (Or something like that; my friend got the whole story?and covered a round for him and his girlfriend as well.) I've been abroad for about a week and a half, had several delicious meals in both London and Paris. This was in my Top 3 meals for this trip.I cannot comment on the rooms as I am staying with my friends at their nearby cottage, but if I didn't know anyone in the area I would stay here just to be close to that food and to become better friends with the staff and locals.

We had a family celebratory Sunday lunch. The food and staff were good although the food could have been a little warmer. Having said this it was a very busy day.

Disapointed in the service. Took longer than expected to be noticed at the door when we arrived. Booked a table for 2 people but a table wasn't ready for us. We agreed to sit in the tipi because we felt like an inconvenience but it had no atmosphere and the waitress didn't come back to take our order so we left without eating. I provided this feedback directly on their website but no response, over a week ago. Was looking forward to eating here for a while and it becoming a regular. I won't go back again.
