The old Goal Museum is a hidden gem in the heart of town and easily accessible to all. Although it's a small museum but it holds a treasure trove of old and historical artifacts, showcasing the rich heritage of the local area and its residents from bygone eras. What makes this museum even more special is its family-friendly atmosphere. It's an ideal place for a day out with children. They can learn about the history of the area while having fun.Parking is a breeze, thanks to the nearby Meadow Cornwall car park located behind Waitrose offering budget rates. So whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a lovely family outing the Old Goal Museum is well worth a visit. ??

Beautiful building with a lot of history, not the biggest of places but some great displays and lots of information boards. You get to see the layout of the gaol and cells. Lovely friendly staff, a little gift shop on site. Entry fee very reasonable £4 an adult. For parking I advise using the car park by Waitrose, it is pay and display. Prices are reasonable and the gaol is a 5 minute walk. Definitely worth a visit.

What a hidden gem. Right in the middle of town. Situated in the middle of the road looks like a tiny castle.£3.50 to go in and it?s so worth it.Like Aladdin?s cave it goes on and on with so much amazing local history. Throughly enjoyed. Well worth a visit.

Excellent- didn?t look like there would be much from the outside - but loads to see and lots of local history - we even met the detectorist who found the gold coin on display - we thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend

A fascinating compact building. Showing history through time from earliest settlements through to WWII & even tv & film connected to the area. A wealth of information. Set within the high street you are able to grab a drink & a bite to eat. Also a market held there too right along side the gaol.

An eye opening museum about incarcerated prisoners in olden times, maybe if some of these practices were adopted again we'd see a lot less offending!!

Great reasonably priced piece of history. Really enjoyed the amount of history they have crammed into the area. Was very informative and interesting.

Lovely, helpful lady in the tourist information centre in the old gaol. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit the museum, but it looked really interesting.

Lots about local history. An optical illusion - more to see inside than apparent from the size of the outside
