Lovely food and very friendly staff

Tonnes of craft ale selection, Chiltern brewery mostly, plenty of choice on cask and keg, and a really wholesome old fashioned feel to the building, allegedly it used to be an old coaching inn, and still has a lot of its original character.

Young staff running the bar and restaurant have an attitude. Toilet door code is very annoying not easy to see the numbers.

Excellent ancient pub which is great for a real ale and a ploughman's lunch.
Good value

A delight to find the King's Head on our walk around the Old Town area. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Great Hall. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional. The food was really enjoyable and presented so nicely. They took time to answer our questions about the history of the mediaeval coaching inn. The courtyard looked lovely as did the stables. Looking forward to returning on our next visit to the area.

I was served by a lady called magda and her attitude was rude. Speaking to customers like they are benethe her.
Not great so will be going somewhere else where people are actually welcome

My wife and I popped in for the 3 course Sunday lunch in the new, Great Hall section of the pub. Absolutely superb!
Everything was delicious, meat cooked perfectly, deep rich gravy and the homemade Yorkshire pudding was ?. Couldn?t fault it. The apple tart for dessert was excellent. Compliments to the chef ?.
The staff are a real asset to the business. We felt very well looked after and they couldn?t do enough for us.
We will definitely be back and recommend booking a table! The Great Hall is steeped in history and has clearly been carefully restored.
Thanks for a great experience!!

Upon entering the staff were friendly and pleasant.
After sitting for a few minutes we realise the other staff members apparently an assistant manager was found to have a poor attitude and rude.
The manager also sitting afar watching had little backbone when call upon in the first instance.
Would not advise to visit on this alone
