I spent £18 in the store today almost a weekly occurrence with 12 grandkids mad about arts and crafts.
The range of goods is amazing
Last minute purchase as we left with my 5 year old granddaughter was a £2 Hula hoop
She was going to a friends to play and wanted to take it
But before we got back to the car the ribbon around the hula hoop was unravelling.
Seeing Rosie?s disappointment I said no problem we can just swop it for a new one.
So we returned to the shop and was shocked to be told it could not be swopped over as there was not a manager on site to authorise it, it?s only a £2 item? I only had the item less than an hour. I was told that it wasn?t like that when it left the shop, no it wasn?t but less than an hours use and it is. The product is not fit for purchase and as a gesture of goodwill should have been replaced at least.
Again told no one to authorise an exchange or refund to come back on Monday speak to a manager. Why is the shop not being left with a manager on a Saturday?
I feel I spend a lot of money in this shop over a year and now I have now lost confidence that if I purchased something of more value the Works would be difficult to deal with if it was faulty.
I honestly do not feel I want to shop in there again. It was only £2 but it is the principle.
I had no option to purchase another hula hoop for a Rosie?s play date & we added extra sellotape before she used it and the 1st one we also had to fix with sellotape.
Very disappointing and a lost customer.
They obviously have enough customers so they can treat them with such little respect.

Everytime I go in here the staff are always so friendly, helpful and welcoming, they are a great asset to the team. Today (2nd Jan 2025) especially Zoe on the till was greeting people and chatting as if she knew them. Perfect customer service.

A Really lovely store, the store manager is lovely and the team are super helpful, always greeted with a smile! We?re in and out all the time, fantastic selection of crafts, books etc. love having this store on our door step!! X

This shop is a great addition to our small town. I find myself in there a few times a week, picking up little bits and pieces for home or work. The staff are welcoming, and always have a biscuit on hand for my pup. Great service - keep it up!

I have shopped in this store since it opened, and only over the last few months have I really seen the store in such a positive light. The staff have always been great, and over the last few months they seem much happier which is so nice to see people enjoy their jobs. Also with the warmer atmosphere the store seems more organised and welcoming. I don't normally give feed back, but the change has been so positive, I just had to say something. Some of your other stores can learn a lesson from this store.
