Went for lunch. Menu was quite limited and service a little slow, but waiting staff very pleasant. Superfood salad quite mediocre given the price. Table was very uncomfortable - wooden benches too far apart from the table to be able to relax.

I went to the George Inn after a solo day walk from Staines on the Thames Path. Initially I went somewhere else in town and they made it very clear I wasn?t welcome - I guess they didn?t like the look of my hiking boots and backpack. As it was dark and I was on my own in an unfamiliar place that didn?t feel great! But in the end I was glad because it led to me to the George where I got a truly warm welcome ?It was packed with all the tables reserved but they managed to find me a seat in the corner - as you can see with a friendly local ? ? I had an absolutely delicious halloumi burger, chips and Devon Red cider ? ? ? The barman highly recommended the hot sauce which I agree was excellent ??Half way through the burger I finished my drink, and stood up to go to the bar and get another, but the lovely woman (who had brought over my food) insisted I sit down and brought the drink to me. She said she wanted me to relax and enjoy my food. It wasn?t table service there so it was just really nice of her!It?s owned by the Windsor & Eton brewery so they have a dazzling array of real ales ? I?m not a beer drinker so I?ll definitely have to go back with someone who would appreciate them! And that?ll be a good excuse to sample the halloumi burger again ?The pub is traditional and cosy with a fire ? and interesting decor. It also has a great looking beer garden.I didn?t see the rooms but I would definitely recommend this as a good and safe place to visit or stay if you?re travelling solo.Thank you to the team for being so kind and welcoming to me - I really appreciate it ??Safety: It feels safe and like the team members care and are looking out for people - especially if they?re aloneWalkability: It?s in the centre and near the Thames - very walkableFood & drinks: They?re delicious ?

A great British pub no tat or bling just a great pub,just on the river on the Eton side of Windsor.The choice of beers ( All local ) is great.Friendly staff welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and the drink they serve.A proper pub which is great to find these days.

Had our staff Xmas do here. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and the portion size was spot on. The drinks at the bar were great with a super selection of Windsor and Eton beers. The service was also fab(thanks Kelly)and they handled a noisy table of 9 on a Friday night with ease. Will definitely return and try the Sunday lunch soon. Brilliant ??

I?m always a little worried about booking places for a Sunday roast as I?ve been to places & ended up being disappointed. I booked the George as it?s local & I?m so glad I did book as when we arrived it was very busy. We was shown to the our table & ordered some drinks. The staff are all very friendly & helpful. I ordered the chicken & my daughter ordered the beef. The food was lovely. The meat, the vegetables & the potatoes all cooked to perfection & really tasty. If you are looking for a traditional pub with nice food & friendly staff this is the place for you. I would definitely recommend.
