Wonderful atmosphere, great selection of pastries, and excellent service. I went here for a late breakfast after a quick trip to the nearby CeX and it was wonderful. The staff members were kind and the service was very quick. I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream which was pretty nice and an absolutely delicious croissant with prosciutto and fig jam. It's a wonderful and convenient place if you're in downtown Guildford, with good prices, great food and a wonderfully cozy atmosphere.

We stopped by for a coffee and rest as we were walking around the city. The coffee was great. They also have great bakery items. It is a great place to take a rest.

A great place for lunch. The rolls and sandwiches were delicious and very fresh. The service was fine, the only issue was that the table next to us was not cleared in a timely manner

The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I?ve enjoyed Ole & Steen a few times, particularly the excellent Vegan Mushroom Melt. However, for the winter season, the menu has radically changed so that the only sandwich option is an awful squash sandwich instead. Same ingredients as the mushroom version, but with squash and cranberry sauce replacing mushrooms and truffle oil. Horribly sweet, bad texture, and a removal of an excellent vegan option! (The meat options all seem fairly normal which only makes it more frustrating)

I always visit Ole and Steen for a drink and a pastry. The staff are very polite and friendly. Special thanks to Jessica who kindly assisted me with the ingredients of some items. Seating was a bit tricky as I visited on Saturday with my boys. But if you wait, you can get seats.\\nThere are two toilets one is for disabled.\\nYou can park around Richmond Green (max 2 hours) and walk for a short distance to the café.

I love the sandwiches/pastries here but really disappointed with poor and slow service. There were 4 people behind the counter. 2 people were waiting for coffee orders and because there weren't any, they were just standing waiting. The other 2 were taking one order at a time and wouldn't take the next order until the whole order had finished (lots of standing and waiting for sandwiches to toast and then even delivering to the tables (whilst the other 2 were standing around). It's 1pm on 27th October and I was there 10 minutes ago so perhaps management need to have a word with those staff working because it's very frustrating to watch when you are on a lunch break. Then when I did receive my toasted mozarella and pesto sandwich, it had been shoved into the bag so it wasn't even a sandwich anymore. Most of the mozarella had clearly slipped out in the cooking process so I was left with mostly bread and tomato. Really disappointed. Not going back unless I receive a free sandwich and the service improves. They really can't charge that kind of money and not train the staff properly.

I have no idea why this place is so popular. The cakes are enormous but are of very poor quality. Got some king size chocolate muffins that tasted of nothing . Everything is heavy , stocky. 0 baking skills. Bread is meh. Not coming back.

What a great service, refreshing to see helpful staff keen to help and greeted with a smile which has been lacking. Very clean café improved recently and tall lady in black with long dark hair made me and my children very welcome. Would recommend ?

As annual visitors to the UK we have been to this bakery 5 or 6 times in the last three years, both to have coffee and pastries, and also just to buy bread. The in-house experience is pleasant, despite the sub-optimal seating arrangement. Pastries and sausage rolls are consistently good. Staff are friendly and efficient. Yesterday, however, our sourdough bread purchases were a disappointment. Having learned and practiced sourdough bread making over the past year, I regard myself as an experienced adjudicator of fine sourdough. The two loaves, one malted the other plain proved to lack any evidence of sourdough texture and had less character and taste than a standard supermarket loaf. Sadly, the only purpose for which they can be used is very expensive croutons! Was this just an off day? I doubt - since we experienced a similar revelation when we bought bread there last year. But back then we had no basis for comparison. Now we know how real sourdough should feel and taste.

Random queuing meant some folks were missing their turn. Took 7 mins to get to the front of the queue and then place the order and another 8 for it to be made. I get the barrista was under pressure but a ?sorry for the wait? would have been appreciated. 15 mins to get a take away coffee is too long.

I haven?t been here for a while, it used to be great but everything has deteriorated! Service very slow, disinterested staff. The people sitting at adjacent tables were unhappy too with the quality of the cakes, luke warm coffee, all the china appeared to be chipped. Not a pleasant experience at all, won?t be re visiting, such a shame that this place has gone downhill so much

Every cup , saucer & teapot was chipped. Same on next table.service was slow, and cakes were not all that either. Disappointing

Ole and Steen HAD been our regular stop, especially cycling near Richmond, but no more. They've shrunk the apple pie so much it is laughable, but the inflated price isn't funny at all. Plus it is difficult to find seating, lots of laptop hogs. Staff aren't particularly friendly either, but the place always seems busy, so maybe others have more money than sense. We now go elsewhere.

I keep coming back to Ole & Steen because their cinnamon pastries are amazing, and it usually makes me forget how terrible the experience is. But I went to this branch for the first time yesterday, and this is the rudest staff I've seen in a coffee shop, plus the toilets had no paper and were disgusting. Made me forget about the cinnamon bun.

A really good cafe with friendly staff and good service. There is such a large range of delicious food to choose from that it can actually be quite stressful making a decision!
