Stayed for 1 night. Great service, amazing location and setting. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was nicely presented. We'll be back. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking to stay out of London within a commutable distance.

Came down for a wedding 2 weeks ago. Venue was nice and parking was spacious. However upon returning home we got a surprise parking fine delivered to our doorstep. Not once did anyone from the hotel/venue mention or direct us to write down registration or mention anything about parkinv. Completely disappointed! every single vehicle that attended the 150 wedding got a parking fine through the post.

Food & drinks: We were there for a wake after a funeral.The location & its surroundings were very peaceful & quiet. An ideal place for functions of all sorts.The food was well prepared & hygienically displayed.Ample food, & good selection, especially the desserts.The seating area was quite tight & got really crowded around the Buffet. But we had the option to spill over into the adjacent bar area which was vacant. That made all the difference in expanding the congregating area.We all felt very comfortable, and every staff member was extremely & politely helpful. Excellent service.I would have definitely given a well deserved 5, had we not been initially squeezed into a very tight area.Once again I say that the staff were considerate & kind enough to let us spill over into the bar area.

Rooms: The room was not clean, on arrival we found hair on the bathroom floor in-between the sink and the toilet. There was dust on the floor which was making the floor so slippery which was like an ice rink. But worse than that more dust under the bed and behind the door. This has obviously been mounting up for time by the looks of this by the thickness of the dust behind the door. The shower temperature controller was broken so you couldn't even safely regulate the shower temperature. So you either had freezing cold temperatures or boiling hot water. So those who have medical conditions that are not able to detect the boiling hot water could have serious injury themselves. The room on the second night caused a major allergy attack which we had to open the window as the room had not been cleaned, the hair in the bathroom was still on the floor and the dust in the room was increasing. They had left breakfast from the morning still in the room along with the previous meal. The only thing that had been cleaned was the bin, a couple of towels and the bed made up (not changed).Food & drinks: We had informed them regarding the dietary restrictions however these were not met on several occasions but they say they over looked however they did not state on the items when delivery which one had what item. This is not acceptable when you have two people that have different dietary requirements and two different boxes of plates of foods (you cannot expect the consumers to guess). A label should have been placed on the lid of the box to state what was in these items to explain what they were not to expect to visually guess what they were. Extremely poor excuse from any management team.

Location is beautiful??.in the pictures. Reality is that it has a lot of potential but needs a cash injection to renovate and not having it done on the cheap as it appears currently.Was greeted at reception by two members of staff, one stunk of booze. Delayed check in by an hour at 3pm, escorted to bar by said drunk, Bar is terrible. It?s a counter with a handful of tables. Maybe in the summer it would be good due to the outside location. Drinks warm and not a great selection. Room was insecure. Had been obviously previously kicked in and repaired badly. Room very cold, heating function on A/C broken so a 40sq M room with one plug in electric heater. Bathroom single pane windows and very dated. Using toilet was like being outside. All fixtures and fittings way past useable life. Clock radio that old still has 30 pin Apple connector. No money has been spent on these rooms in decades. Stayed in room for 10 mins and left to stay at another hotel. Told reception and didn?t say a word and just took key back. Says it all really. Has an air of Fawlty Towers about it. Could picture Basil marching about although his rooms in his establishment are habitable. Colleague stayed in another room and he risked his life to stay?..he regretted that decision and had an awful nights sleep being cold and kept awake by noisy pipes.Have noticed same complaints over and over again over a long period of time, obviously not going to resolve the issues.Safety: Room was not safe or secure at all

A little disappointed with some aspects of my stay as celebrating with family members.Rooms: Not impressed by the de luxe rooms versus some standard rooms I have stayed in in other hotels.Food & drinks: Very pricey in my opinion.

AWFUL rooms! The rooms outside the hotel are filth! No heating at all, its been -5! Had to use a heater in the room that was so noisy it kept me awake! Carpets need replacing, the bathroom was full of mold! Mentioned to reception on check out and they didnt seem to care! Would not

Went with 10 family members yesterday for Xmas lunch at £100 per head. Food was awful and cold.Long wait between courses and sliw staff. No Xmas music or xmas atmosphere. Would NEVER go again and really all need refund.

Had a lovely stay here from a deal on great little breaks. Nice spacious room but it was very cold, there was a small electric heater that we did plug in to warm it up. We had a 3 course meal booked but decided on drinks in the bar first, the bar is located in a very odd place at the back of the hotel out of the way with very little atmosphere which was a shame as the cocktails were fab. 3 course meal was very good but had limited choice from a menu with only 3 things to select on each course. Unfortunately we found the bed to be very firm, too firm for us. Understand that's our personal opinion but it ruined the nights sleep for us. Breakfast was excellent, best I've had at a stay with an extensive continental choice and self serve hot food, can't fault that. Overall it was a nice stay.

Stayed for a wedding, was put in the garden rooms which were nice enough. Breakfast was buffet style and also nice enough, similar to a premier inn. The lake behind the hotel was lovely, and it was very clean and tidy inside, but I fear probably not great for the disabled (then again it's an old house)
4 star this is not, it is more like a 2 star bed and breakfast. At check in no lifts for those with luggage and no offer to assist. Firstly we arrived half hour after check-in which was at 3.00pm and the room was not ready, told to go to the bar and wait so we bought drinks at an additional cost I might add with no apology. On our return the hallway was filled with dirty linen and plates and our room was not cleaned to a reasonable standard. Dirty floor and cobwebs. Decor furniture old & cupboards was cracked, worn and unable to close. Hotel's floorboards and stairs are worn, creaky and unsteady felt unsafe. Dinner was not as described, limited choice poor service and food was disappointingly bland, chocolate fondant was overcooked an dry and pear was undercooked and hard. I would definitely not recommend this hotelFood & drinks: Very bad

We were there for one night but we tried to use everything in the hotel. I would like to thank everyone who work in this hotel. Everything was great, staffs were so much helpful, kind and patient. In restaurant food was great with beautiful presentation and great service. Bar had great deals with polite and professional staffs and beautiful outside and inside sitting area. Christmas decorations was one of the best which I?ve seen this year so far. Rooms were clean and fantastic. Huge and peaceful green land with lake to walk around, For sure we will come back.

Lovely venue, conveniently situated. Went there for a bridal shower and enjoyed a plentiful afternoon tea. We were well looked after by Aga and Silvester, thank you. The oppulent decoration throughout the hotel looked amazing too.
