Excellent food and service would recommend.

We took a group of teenagers to the Shinfield Arms for an evening meal.
What a fantastic team! We pre-ordered and the food was simply fabulous. Fantastic, tasty salads, excellent Porsche sizes for fish and chips and sausage and mash.
And all of this whilst working out of their small kitchen! Excellent teamwork, superb little pub and comes highly recommended

First time for a evening meal and I must admit I couldn?t of been more impressed
Bearing in mind they do not have a fully functioning kitchen the food was fantastic and service was second to none
Can?t wait to come and try once the new kitchen is full operational
Well done to all x

With the price of food, you would expect some level of quality, but its just mass produced food you will find a lot cheaper at most other pubs. No special tastes, cooking or personalisation involved.
Was overcharged for drinks and the staff member seemed to think arguing with customers is the best way to deal with it. Big family of customers who wont be coming back.

A somewhat bracing meal with friends and family. We'd hoped for a table inside, as booked, but with the renovation works, only outside was available. This put us in line for all the cigarette and cigar smoke from fellow diners.
We ordered three main courses. One was entirely wrong and the other had a sauce poured over it, when we'd asked for no sauce. They took nearly an hour to arrive.
We'd ordered three drinks. One was wrong.
We ordered three very simple desserts, which took 45 mins to arrive.
I've had a lot of good meals here in the past. This wasn't one of them.

Great food, good atmosphere friendly staff

An extremely disappointing experience today at the Shinfield arms. Used to be a local gem that we recommended to anyone who visited our village.
Went today being our anniversary but the food was such a let down. Ambience & atmosphere were great as always and the staff were friendly too. But to start they forgot our drinks order and waited for 30mins before I had to remind them.
From a food point of view the nachos that we got as starters were strictly average. My son's kids meal was basic and the portion was absolutely tiny.
But the real killer was my mains - Chicken Caesar salad; probably the worst one I have had in my life and we were charged £17 for it. Literally massive chunks of lettuce with chicken on top and what looked like ready bottled Caesar sauce poured on top. Probably Caesar salad bags from a supermarket would come out better.
Fully appreciate that there was a fire and you are operating from a mobile kitchen, but if the food standards cannot be maintained then they either should not be serving sub standard food or should not be charging such prices for clearly below par food.
Overall very disappointed and I really hope once the refurbishment is done, things will get back on track.

A Dismal Anniversary Meal at The Shinfield Arms
The Shinfield Arms, a pub we've proudly recommended to every visitor to our village, delivered an incredibly poor experience on what was supposed to be a special occasion ? our wedding anniversary.
The service was painfully slow from start to finish. We waited almost 30 minutes for our drinks order, and even then, we had to remind the staff. This set the tone for the entire evening. The food took an absolute age to arrive, leaving us wondering if they'd forgotten about us entirely.
When the food did finally appear, it was a letdown. The nachos starter was incredibly average, lacking any real flavour or excitement. My child's meal was not only basic but also a tiny portion, which is just unacceptable for the price.
But the real shocker was my main course: the chicken Caesar salad. I can honestly say it was the worst Caesar salad I have ever had in my life. Supermarket pre-packed versions are infinitely better, and yet this abysmal plate of food cost a staggering £17!Genuinely m&s bag of Caesar salad for 4 quid was more fresh and tastier than a £17 plate of pale lettuce, leftover chicken and some bottled sauce.
Overall, we left The Shinfield Arms feeling utterly ripped off and incredibly disappointed. This used to be a fantastic local gem, but based on our experience tonight, we won't be recommending it to anyone again. What happened to the place we loved?
I understand that there was a fire. Kitchen is being redone- then please don't serve atrocious food at such high prices and make us hate this place that we used to love.

Although the fire has caused the restaurant to have a limited menu while the work is being undertaken
However Shelby gave a great service and the good was brilliant
Highly recommend the shinefield arms

Great pub and brilliant staff. Had the best night and the bonus of a quiz. Ok we came 2nd last but who cares when your having fun. Manager was super helpful when there was an error on our booking, which she resolved. Our waitress was a delight and was always smiling. Great pub, great staff, great food. Why are you reading this, go to the pub and see for yourself xxx

The portions were generous and left us completely satisfied.

Just finished my second visit here, food is very basic considering the high price and service was very slow during both visits. However this pub does offer nice seating outdoors.

We loved our family lunch here. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the service was great as always. Despite having had a fire recently and coping with a smaller kitchen, the food tasted fabulous and nothing was too much trouble.
