I was seen by a lady optician for follow up for my cataract.After examination I was advised my cataract is advanced and I am not fit to drive.I was referred to cataract surgery in Royal Berkshire hospital.
Hearing that I am not fit to drive set me back and felt anxious that my independence is gone.
I rang RBH saying I need to be seen urgently as I was feeling low.Luckily there was a cancellation and I was seen next day.
Dr in ophthalmology explained me and said my cataract is mild,do not need operation and I am fit to drive.That was a huge relief.

Saw another optician,told that cataract is mild,given new prescription and feel my usual self.
Is this the inexperience of the optometrist?
I thought I will bring this experience to your notice.Saying to someone who is independent that they cannot drive is a big mistake.

Lovely people there who answer all my questions, explain things clearly, refer anything that looks strange for a second opinion then phone to put my mind at rest to say all ok. Very helpful when choosing new glasses and advise on the best options for me. Can thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic customer server by the in-house optician but most importantly from Alma, who spent a lot of time helping me choose the right frames and helped me figure out best pricing combinations! I was feeling really guilty about taking up her time but she was so kind and made me feel a lot better about wearing glasses - which I normally don't like! I am now excited about getting my new glasses and sunglasses too in two weeks time! Thank you so much Alma!

Went in for an eye test and contact lenses appointment, the opticians was great, but the staff member who served me afterwards didnt seem to know much about the voucher I had for a free eye test, so we had to go through the terms and conditions together. I booked for a follow up appointment for a contact lenses trial and she said I would be notified by text message. I had not heard anything within 2 weeks so I went in to check and my lenses had not arrived. I hadn't heard anything 4 weeks later so I went in and was informed that 2 weeks prior, one phone call was made with no follow up or text notification, to let me know they were in store. I was then booked onto an appointment to try the lenses and practice putting them in. This appointment was in 2 parts and scheduled to take approximately 30mins. Due to staffing issues, I arrived at 13:30 and left at approximately 14:45, I had been waiting over half an hour to be seen between the opticians and the lenses lesson. I have always been to Vision express and I have no intention to go elsewhere, but there needs to be more staffing on busy days which are notable due to appointments, and the floor staff need to be trained on the promotions available to customers and to fully explain procedures. I found out after the free lenses trial that I need to book a follow up test costing £35, which I was not informed about when signing up for the trial unfortunately. Both the opticians and the lenses practitioner were very good.

Having arrived on time I was taken straight through to have the pressure checks done and the eyes scanned.
It was only a few minutes before the Optometrist called me in for the eye test itself, she was very detailed and talked me through all what she did.
All the staff were very friendly.

A member of staff told me one thing and then another member of staff said different and told me I miss understood what I was told but I didn't I fully understood what I was first told and then got rude to me and not take into account of peoples conditions! So staff need more training
