Me and my friends were in there till it closed yesterday evening and had such a great night! Bar tenders were amazing, we had Phillip looking after us and I think Callum was the other guys name too, but they were so so great! Highly recommend!!

Watched the British Grand Prix. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Great beer, tasty burgers and onion rings. A good place to watch sports.

What can I say. Popped in to meet a friend, not been there in years.
Only downfall (not a big thing) is the bar near the entrance wasnt open so had to go up to back one.
But still a place I would come back to again.

I found it to be a very friendly Establishment, with very friendly staff, service was fantastic, Food was Amazing, I would recommend the monks retreat to anyone that wants good food , good beer, good ale ,good wine's,good spirits, And a good Manerger.

Wonderful team there service is second to none. We saw food being serviced. And it look very good. We ordered Ourselves. Fish and chips. It was a good portion, and was cooked Perfectly. and was presented very well. Very good value. So thank you so much. to the team. For a very enjoyable visit

We recently stayed in Reading for my nephews wedding in early May.
We called in for food and drinks on the friday we arrived.
We found the pub to have a great atmosphere and the staff very welcoming.
