The worst financial service provider I have ever been. I am an expat and lived in many developed and underdeveloped countries all across EU and Americas and never had a such horrible experience in any of them.This "bank" rejected my debit/savings account application (I want to deposit the money) with no reason. Thankfully I myself am a experience financier and economist and even used to work for a bank before. So I know how the usual process is going, credibility checks etc. Whenever I asked for the process information, I could see they assume I have no knowledge about bank/economics and just bring up hilarious comments. Even if we ignore the fact they rejected, the way they handled it, lying to our faces (me and my partner), and wasting our times. They made us visit the bank 3-4 times and requested unrelated documents and asked us to call other third party data providers (not the government or any reliable source) which made no sense, but I did what they wanted, in every detail.. We have all the documents, all the legal parameters, all the long term employment, savings and most importantly legal basis for everything. Anyway, if you want a racist, completely unprofessional "bank", try this one, you will not regret it. Because once they see a person from a country they do not know, it is a rejection and the way of handling this is absolutely hilarious, because at the end of the day this process itself (rejecting application due to nationality) is ILLEGAL to begin with and not in accordance with any policy. I and my husband went to this bank twice to open an account and every time there were some nonsense excuses that It will take an hour to open an account so come on some other day as we went at 3:20 pm today. Bank closing time is 5:00 pm but still they didn?t open it. And then when i asked them when can we come or we can book an appointment they said come in bank anytime time in the morning and you will be in the waiting list . I mean what you mean by waiting list if we are asking for an appointment.. Really disappointed and staff always have stupid and meaningless answers to give

Stay away from this bank, otherwise you will waste your time and your nerves!!! Unprofessional people are kept in these positions, what will they get a salary for?? I came 7 times to open a bank account, but each time there was a lack of a copy, despite the fact that all data were collected at once and copies of all documents were made, but maybe they will use them to hide their ass, so every time I take all the papers at once. There are no words to describe this place and these stupid workers. And especially Max, who knows nothing about his work.

just don't expect to be able to open an account in branch - not in Reading at least. We found ourselves in a Python/Little Britain- esque conversation in which the assistant claimed that a) two properties shared our house number and postcode and b) since we couldn't prove we lived in both (one wasn't good enough), we couldn't open an account. Went home and re applied via the app. The welcome at the door and the name ("best small car in the world" 1990).

Exactly how banking should be done. I was seen promptly and Ricardo carefully guided me through the process and had endless patience. I?ve been banking with Monzo for the past 4 years because I got fed up with high street banks but this has totally changed my perception.

never trust this bank, if you want to be happy, please keep away with this bank.this morning, a staff lady dealt with personal account opening, she is really relax and unprofessional, but after 45 minutes, she told me someone will call to add more information, in the evening 5.00pm, she called me and said please come back to finish the procedure by 6.00pm, I came to the bank at 5.45pm, and she was there and asked some senior staff to deal with this mattet, the senior staff said she can not do anything, asked me to come in the morning. Really wadte time. also the staff needs the professional training, really unprofessional.Keep away with this bank and be happy.

Opening a bank account quickly is a complete lie. I've had to go to the bank multiple times and was told that the person I spoke to previously did something wrong so something else had to be done. Ridiculous

They keep wasting my time. I've been in the bank 4 times so far! To open an account which they claim they will open in 15minutes online and each person that sees me claims another person before them made a mistake and they had to fill in the form twice...a form that takes over 2h to fill in! Their incompetence is truly bewildering

Awful experience. A CallCenter operative was rude to me and put the phone down on me. I complain to the manager of the Reading branch twice via email. Both emails been ignored. On top of this I have had to complain about the lack of response when I applied for an overdraft, I am taking my account elsewhere, I would avoid!

Rude and inefficient staff, resulting in me closing my account less than a month later. After this it was apparent that my account hadn't even been closed, so I had to re visit the branch to do this once again, after 40 mins trying to do this I was successful. Dog biscuits and water bowls says it all. They obviously care more about those that have a dog than there core customer base. Never again avoid avoid avoid.

what a horrible service and customer handling! We went there to open an account ,for which the staffs collected all the documents including photo id, local address proof and finally mentioned , they will call us once the head office approves the document on address proof.Second week - No calls for a week and we went to enquire the next week, quoting the customer number. They checked and mentioned, they haven't send the documents to approve,so come again in another week.Third week - After hours of waiting , the staff mentioned that everything is approved ,so we can proceed with the opening of account but no more slot available for the day so advised to come next day.fourth week - After giving a 2 hour waiting time and then checked the documents ,the staff mentioned they couldnt find the local address proof ( which was submitted the first day and approved by head office in next weeks) so asked us to come again.This is what a pathetic service /followup will look like. We politely refused to proceed with them as we dont need to commit a relationship with the bank which is not valuing the customer's time and effort.

As an early account holder a number of years ago at the Reading Store, l was initially very impressed: their mistakes were honestly acknowledged and even financially compensated. However, standards are collapsing. The once-advertised "no stupid bank rules" could now be considered ironic, or perhaps more accurately, "stupid rules now rule": to pay online using a Metrobank card, you must have internet banking to verify the transaction. No exceptions. This ill-thought through customer "care" means l'm forced to use my partner's Lloyd's card to pay bills.What if you refuse to use Internet banking, perhaps owing to the performance comparison chart on their own wall placing Metrobank last?What if you don't have a smartphone?As a result of this idiocy, l can't use my Metrobank card online for any significant purchases. As an institution, they're just not interested. I wasted hours on Saturday trying to sort this out in the branch, but to no avail. In fairness, Silvia did try hard to help, but her hands were tied.Their savings rates are risible and, unhelpfully, there's always long delays to see their version of personal bankers. They only rate two stars since the staff are usually polite and friendly. The early halcyon days of excellent customer care are well and truly over.
