I had always wanted to try the Novotel Reading because it is next to the IBIS I know quite well (very good too).I wanted a local getaway for my 50th and I was treated like a queen. I am very pleased with the overall experience.

Location is great. In the room the toilet is seperated and has no hand wash basin. The bathroom has a bath and a shower but the shower only worked on 2 settings: scold and boil.Room itself is a good size and clean.The fan did not work or not well enough. My room was boiling during the night despite me trying to adjusy fan speed and temp.Breakfast is rather diajointed. Hard to find many items. Had to ask staff 3 rimes to find milk, sugar and butter. Things should ne layed out properly.Breakast itself is nice.Can hear lots of noise from adjacent room.

Hotel was great in central Reading Cark Park was not easy to find even with provide instructions and took 5 mins to gain access. Room was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was not great but I may have arrived at the wrong time as the buffet was being

Some things simple don?t keep up with the process you pay:- cold rooms- my room is colder than the corridor, guess I?m sleeping in the corridor today- lack of produces in break first- they don?t refill stuff at the same rate it goes so either you wake up at 6 or you will be left with empty plates- no refill of shower gel or similar at the roomNot worth you?re hard money.

Good location for the town, and to catch train to London. Small but nice pool. Steam room was not working while we were there. Room was nice, but sofa bed a little uncomfortable. Toilet is separate to shower/bathroom. So needed to walk round the corner of room to wash hands.Downstairs snacks a bit expensive, but off-licence next door and opposite for snacks/drinks. Bar was nice. Staff very helpful and polite.Walkability: Really close to town centre. 5 mins from train station.

Excellent. Very family oriented hotel. I went with my new born, toddler and teenage daughter. My wife had a lovely time and the staff was excellent especially Marissa, went the extra mile and really made our stay welcome. Also the lovely staff at reception Alexandra and Raquel. Both very friendly and lovely: thank you so much guys.

Road works makes accessing car park partially impossible.Gyms a mess needing total revamp and someone to tidy weights away. Cross trainer sounds like a steam train...Steam rooms broken.They replaced kids play area with a shop that has a sole purpose of exploiting the hotels guests with extortionate pricing.Can't believe how much it's costing for this place...Rooms: Cramped family rooms.Food & drinks: Extortionate.

You could not have better staff, so friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean the only drawback is the rooms are a bit dated and carpets are older than my gran. Even in the highland executive rooms. The old alarm clocks, tv is not able to be used for casting. Which would be a big plus. The irons are past thier best and nearly unusable with the silly security cord. But the worst part is definitely the carpets by far! It's a shame as the hotel is so clean everywhere else. The staff again couldn't do more and the food is also to a very good quality.

I?ve had two stays at this hotel. One positive and one extremely negative.We were drinking in Reading for the first time as a young group of us and the hotel receptionist blocked our keys at 3am because one of our friends staying locally went back to collect his bag (he wasn?t staying with us).They did this after he left and an 18 year old girl was locked outside the hotel until I got there. The receptionist said that she could block anyone from the hotel regardless of safety concerns and then became extremely upset when I started video recording her lack of safety for a young woman at 3am.Utterly appalling visit.

The room was great - Good, clean, quiet room, comfy bed. Shampoo, coffee, bottled water provided. The service by the staff was great. Polite staff. Wifi was decent.The only negative I would say was the TV. I wasn't able to cast my personal content to the TV. You can do this in a lot of hotel these days, including the Ibis, so not having this surprised me since Novotel is run by the same company. Novotel had a big, capable TV and I had a couple of movies ready - But could not get them on the TV :-(Some hotels don't have this feature, but do have a HDMI socket in the TV, so then I could at least output from my laptop - So I tried that, but the TV / remote is locked down - You can't even change the 'source' input ?? Why? Normal Freeview is just awful, even if you do find something half decent to watch, it's just peppered with adverts. So, effectively, I had little in terms of entertainment in my room.

Very good location friendly staff although our room was tired bath tap didn?t work had to use shower head to fill the bath. Wall corner trim hanging from the wall was wedged to the ceiling. Lack off cooked items at breakfast had to wait 10-15 mins for eggs and bacon. Some foods were over cooked and not fresh. This isn?t normally like this within the last 5 years we have had a great experience here but this time was poor and disappointing

Room was ready early, which was really helpful. Room was mostly clean but some weird splash mark stains on the ceiling and the blackout lining of the curtains was pretty holey. Shower was lovely. Bed was incredibly firm but a good night's sleep despite the town centre location.

This place is quite central. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean. The bathroom is nice with a separate shower and bathtub. I think this is handy if two people want to use the bathroom at the same time.Food & drinks: Right in the Town centre, so lots of restaurants and shops close by.

Room was nice with all extras included as expected for an executive upgrade. Unfortunately we arrived late so didn't get to enjoy the hotel as much as we would have liked (missed on swimming pool). Maybe next time :)Some craziness happening outside by drunk people, but lots of police there. Also the hotel had it's own security guard inside, and you entered through a locked parking lot in the back after you left your car, so felt safe at all times.
