Visited for afternoon tea, well worth what we paid (Groupon deal). Sat outside in the garden which was nice, as it was a sunny day. Staff very attentive and bringing refills of tea. Hotel does look a bit run down since my last visit.

Never again the hotel is in desperate need off a good clean. We saw rubbish left in the same place for over two day. Towel in room was dirty . I would say the mattress is the same one sence the hotel opend. We had breakfast included but did not even eat there as we did not trust it. The carpet had a gray layer of dirt on it did not see or hear a hover once. Reception has no local Knowledge. It is like a hotel on its last legs and no one cares with is a pity .As the hotel has a real old world fell. So sadly avoid. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stay only one night but it was a lovely experience. All staff was very polite and friendly. It's an old structure but they do a good job maintaining it. Awesome location.

Nice enough hotel close to Highclere Castle for Battle Proms. Room was clean and comfortable. Close to eq urt town centre.

This is a lovely little hotel in Newbury - the rooms are to a high standard and both of our bathrooms looked recently updated. My shower didn?t work it was stuck on bath tap, but that was okay to overlook.
Friendly and helpful staff and a good spacious car park with plenty of spaces. We were a little upset to have been told on the night before breakfast was until 10, incorrectly, but when we went down at 9.20 it actually ended at 9.30 so we missed out on most stuff as it was being cleared away.
Overall for the price though we were very impressed and would happily stay here again.

Very good apart from one hiccup. I came back to my room after an exhausting day out to find my bed had been stripped of all covers, even pillow cases, mattress bare and
pillows without covers on the floor. Also bins had been emptied but no fresh liners put in. The receptionist was very helpful and left her position to go and make the bed for me which I was very grateful for. Thank you. Otherwise stay was good.

It's an ok hotel. Back garden is cool. Breakfast was good. Rooms were humid, not too comfy.

Good clean hotel, great staff. Great food although the restaurant name of smokehouse is a tad misleading. Fabulous burger and a small but very tasty and well cooked menu.

Photos are deceiving.
Tired and desperately in need of a revamp. Old vinyl flooring lifting in bathrooms.
Walls badly stained. I needed to pay an upgrade as the room allocated was dark dingy and oppressive and refund refused .
The only saving grace was helpful staff.

Booked in for one night, reunion for friends. Room was basic at best, poor maintenance. We faced the main road, very noisy with old single glazed windows. In the bathroom we had blinds closed all the time as the clear glass gave open view to the street, no privacy.
The worst was the food, my steak was ok ish, but my wife's veg curry was litterally a sauce from a jar with rice. I have never eved seen such poor quality food as that curry in any restaurant or hotel. Shocking!
As for service there was a young guy and girl who were very pleasant but the older guy was miserable and behaved as though we were an inconvenience.
Suffice to say I will not be staying here again.

Big hotel in the heart of Newbury close to all shops and restaurants free parking make sure you enter your registration. Our room was the small room but fine for a couple of nights and value for money with ensuite, TV and tea making.

Great location rooms a bit dated and tired.
Restaurant very good food excellent price reasonable. Good location in the town.
