Great weekend stay here up from Torbay for my daughters wedding. Cost for the room was fabulous. Only issue was I had my older mother in law and it was advertised with a lift and there wasn't one. Rooms were clean, joined to the pub was perfect for food. Food was cheap and good quality.
Also the area was amazing, set in a little square of shops. Markets each morning, friendly staff. Close to train station and everything we needed.
It was that good we will book again just to have a look around newbury.

What a let down to all the beautiful pubs in Newbury. We went for a quick meal with my daughter ( no alcohol) approached 3 times by security for id (shes 18 out with her mum for food) One table so drunk lady literally collaped on floor security do nothing but keep going round id ing people clearly old enough.

Lovely place with lots of character and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and quiet even on a Friday and Saturday night. Perfect base to explore Newbury and the surrounding area

Had a lovely time in Hatchet inn. Place has character and history, a great central location, but the double glazing means still quiet, plus clean rooms with good tea and coffee selection and staff are friendly and helpful.

?Had a brilliant night with family and the drinks were top-notch as always. Seriously, the prices and the company were so good that we almost forgot we were waiting. I think the online ordering system might be in a long-distance relationship with the bar staff because it took a solid 15 minutes for our first round to arrive (in the wrong glasses, no less!) and another 30 for the second. It felt like we were waiting for a parcel from a different continent. We decided to call it a night after that, not wanting to risk waiting for our next drink to be delivered by carrier pigeon. Love a good 'spoons night and will definitely be back, but hopefully, the service sorts itself out.

Have been eating in this pub for many years and quality of food, service etc has always been excellent. Not sure what has happened in the last few weeks however, staff appear not to want to be there and the service and cleanliness has definitely gone down hill. Sat waiting for over half an hour for the food to arrive today, during which time no-one bothered to clear away dirty pots from 4/5 surrounding tables. I know it can be said that you get what you pay for, but as mentioned above this particular
Wetherspoons has always been so good, such a shame.

What a great place for a family breakfast and meet up. Food and service are good also they don't rush you to get out so we spent a good 1.5 hours eating and chatting
