Nice country pub with beautiful garden, food was very good and service was spot on throughout. Laura was friendly, welcoming and was able to answer all the questions we had about the menu, made my mums day when she was able to bring some homemade short bread for her tea as we know it?s not something they normally have here (but biscuits with tea is a must in mums eyes!) looking forward to our next visit already ?

Always a fantastic place for Sunday lunch, especially with the bottomless sides. We had a larger family get together here, and everyone enjoyed it immensely

Service Is very good. The food is not so good. The menu read well, but the execution fell short.
I ordered the Watercress, pine nut and goat?s cheese tart starter. My expectation was that it would be served cold or warm, however it was served hot, which meant the oil from the cheese had separated and was floating on the surface of a congealed egg, cheese and watercress liquid resembling liquid scrambled egg.
For the main course I ordered the Pan-fried fillet of sea bass, octopus and courgette fregola. A very appetising sounding dish. It was ok, but lacked seasoning and the fregola was overcooked, resulting in a mushy texture and again drenched in oil.
My friend was, however happy with his scotch egg and burger. So I'm hoping this was an off day, because on previous visits over the last two years I have always eaten well here.

A well thought out menu, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was friendly, efficient and staff were well informed about the dishes and ingredients. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

A lovely upmarket pub worth traveling to. Our table had scallops, and soup to start with, both excellent, followed by fish & chips and cheese burger. We finished the meal with cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, crumble, and coffee. A lovely lunch served by lovely staff. Thank you

We had Erin as our server and she made us feel very comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed as well as offered us additional parts of the menu which we didn?t realise we could do (bottomless sides with the roast dinners). The roast potatoes were very good and the pints which Ed poured for us was just as good. We will be back!

We had an impromptu dinner out here last night. Friendly staff, loved the wagon-style ?pods? in the garden and the food was excellent! We will be back.

Needed some food that wasn?t with chips. We passed the white oak and stopped. We were greeted in a friendly manner by all the staff . We were shown to a table - comfortable seats and were asked if we would like drinks ? cold tap water and orange juice and lemonade with ice and straw - lovely. The menu has many options but we both chose the chicken with squash, creamed corn and a sage gravy with sides of new potatoes and peas & carrots - it all tastes amazing- full of flavour. We had no room for desserts - but next time. It was a Thursday evening and although it packed had quite a few people dining. We will be back to try the Sunday lunch.

Excellent food this afternoon. We had the cod cheeks and pea soup to start, superbly cooked and well seasoned. Poached trout and whole plaice with sides for mains, both excellent. Good selection wines by the glass. Great addition to Cookham.

We were on a bike ride today and on the off chance popped in for a pint and some bar grub. It was super busy being the bank holiday but the bar staff were so accommodating and the Host Luke despite being rushed off his feet made us feel very welcome. I had the burger and my husband had fish and chips and the food was the best we?ve had in a long time. The atmosphere was brilliant and Leo and Jodie who where running the bar were a dynamic duo, super calm under pressure and worked like a well oiled machine. We said that one day when we move to Cookham this will be our local such a fabulous spontaneous find, thanks for being the highlight of our wedding anniversary Lara x

Great meal here on a busy saturday evening! Peter was brilliant, really friendly and kept us entertained. There was a bit of a wait on food but this did not affect our evening as we were kept well lubricated throughout the dining experience!
We will be back ?
We were hesitant about returning since the ownership change, but the food and experience was still top tier ??

This is a lovely restaurant, and we often visit for lunch. The place is usually fairly well booked (so make a reservation). The food is good, with nice daily specials. The wine is also good and the staff most accommodating. I look forward to returning!
Nb. This review was for the old White Oak, which sadly closed. As of this date, we have not been to the reopened restaurant
