The Fat Duck is one of the meals that one talks about for the rest of one's life. It's not just a meal; it's a journey, an experience, an act of exploration. EVERY dish, and EVERY drink pairing, even EVERY introduction of a dish by staff was prepared to perfection, and an engineered feat of culinary delight. This goes beyond proficient into the truly artful and extraordinary. It's worth every penny, and definitely worth the journey ? perhaps even worth a transoceanic journey. I could talk about individual dishes (each were spectacular and delicious) but I won't, as they change based on availability of fresh ingredients, and more importantly, because it would spoil the surprise!

This was a hard review to write, Heston is unequivocally the reason I got into cooking. He's the reason I became a chef, and sadly, this is a case of never meet your heroes. The food averaged out as good...now that sounds lovely...but Hestons food was supposed to be mind blowing, life changing even...maybe its just me, maybe my expectations were too high, maybe the industry has finally caught up to him and he's not longer breaking ground the way he used to, maybe im just old and jaded. Either way, I was sad when I left. Take this review with a pinch of salt...something the starter was missing as an fyi... Everyone around us seemed to be having fun and enjoying their food, and the service was immaculate. I still think I'd have enjoyed his food 10-15yrs ago but now, sadly not.

This is the most childlike FUN we have had in any fine dining restaurant! So imaginative and original - the playful storytelling and theatrical design are one of the kind. I loved the cereal box ?best before: you go to the beach? and the little pencils. ?? this restaurant is for adults who like FUN. The lamb and cheese courses were our favorites. Dining at The Fat Duck has been a long-held dream of mine and the experience exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived in the quiet village of Bray, it was clear we were in for something extraordinary.
We enjoyed the Journey tasting menu, an imaginative and multi-sensory experience that blurred the lines between food, memory, and theatre. Dishes brought an unexpected emotional depth, sparking vivid memories and personal nostalgia.
The attention to detail was exceptional. One highlight was a visit to the wine cellar for a surprise sound and wine immersion, an immersive touch that showcased the creativity and thought behind every part of the meal.
What stood out most was how moving the experience was. This wasn?t just about food; it was about connection, memory and presence. I found myself unexpectedly emotional more than once, a testament to how powerful dining can be when it?s crafted with such care and intention.
The Fat Duck is not just a restaurant. It?s a journey, a story and an unforgettable encounter with taste and imagination. Special thanks to server, Tom, and sommelier, Melania for ensuring we experienced a truly world-class experience from start to finish.
