I was overcharged by £4 for 2 mini fish and chips and told that the system hadn't been updated for the lower price shown on the menu.

Been coming Newbury Retrofestival for 5 years and decided this time our first night would eat out. Found this place through Google and pleased we did. It is a 15 minute walk from Showground and is just off the motorway to Oxford, London and Winchester, Southampton.
This is situated in a lovely little place called Chievely. Soon we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Staff helpful. Plenty of seating inside and outside. They have rooms but didn't stay. All reasonably priced. The food was absolutely delicious and hot. I had the Red Thai Chicken Curry was really good. And my partner had the Marmite Sausages with mash and said it was lovely. People next to us also said their food was lovely as well.
The landlord and staff so lovely and chatty. The chefs certainly know how to cook.
No faults here and would definitely recommend and will be going again..

Absolutely fantastic food, was somewhat welcoming and not terribly priced for the location, portions and quality of food - about £18 for the burger and £6.50 for a peroni, would come again.

Lovely grub and staff. One of our stopovers along the dull M4. Better than any services.

Popped in here to break up a journey. So worth the slight detour for a hearty meal in a lovely setting and a very reasonable price.
Great vibe here with super friendly staff.
As an alternative to a mcdonalds meal it's a no-brainer!
Definitely will be back on my next trip past.

Ye Olde Red Lion in Chieveley is a proper traditional pub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is always spot on. The food is hearty and delicious ? perfect for a relaxed meal out.
Whether you?re stopping by for a Sunday roast, a pint by the fire, or a meal with friends, it?s a great spot to unwind.
The garden area is also lovely on a sunny day. A real local gem that?s definitely worth a visit!

Nice pub. Popped in with the dog in passing. Very welcoming. Busy for a Monday lunch. Little car park opposite for a dozen cars. Had the cricket on. Good range of beers. Defo worth a visit.

Had lunch with friends and our two dogs in Ye Olde Red Lion after a walk on Snelsmore Common. It is a beautiful old pub with plenty of room and some cosy little snugs. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Lunch was excellent and the specials board was one of the best I?ve seen in a pub.

Met with two friends as conveniently located just off M4 between us.. originally thought it didn't have a lot of available parking but seems the do have an overflow just across the road. Had the burgers for lunch...very nice food and service.
