I had an extremely disappointing experience with Specsavers in Bracknell due to an incorrect prescription that caused me significant inconvenience and unnecessary expenses. I had an eye test on 11th January 2025, after which I used the prescription provided to purchase three pairs of glasses from Boots. Two of these pairs included an £80 lens coating upgrade for anti-reflective and blue-light reduction, as I need them for work and driving.
Shortly after collecting my glasses, I struggled with blurred vision and persistent headaches throughout my holiday. Upon returning, I visited Specsavers to determine whether the issue was with the glasses or the prescription. However, as soon as I mentioned that I had purchased my glasses from Boots, the staff completely dismissed my concerns. Instead of helping me, they told me that since Boots accepted their prescription, the responsibility was now entirely on them?even if the prescription itself was incorrect!
I had no choice but to undergo another eye test, which confirmed that my original prescription was wrong. What made matters worse was that even when comparing the prescription with one from 2023 from another Specsavers branch-Camberley , it was clear that such a drastic change in my eyesight was unlikely. Instead of taking accountability, Specsavers in Bracknell pushed the blame elsewhere and refused to assist me in any way.
This is not the first time I have had issues with Specsavers in Bracknell. Previously, I paid for a repair at their Bracknell store, but they failed to fix my glasses and still charged me £100 . Only a few weeks later, I visited the Camberley Specsavers, where a staff member kindly offered to repair the issue and fixed it with no trouble at all.
I have been a loyal Specsavers customer for over 20 years, using branches in Maidenhead, Camberley, and Slough, and I never had an issue until my experiences at the Bracknell store. However, having two negative experiences in Bracknell within 4 years has completely put me off using Specsavers.
Thankfully, Boots in Bracknell handled the situation with professionalism and ethics even though the issue was not their fault. Specsavers, on the other hand, completely disregarded my concerns and provided no resolution.

Hello, I would like to share my experience this week in the Bracknell Store. The optometrist was very friendly and helpful. The relief to find their OCT scan meant no Fields Test was wonderful! But I want to give a special thanks to Jack who, I felt, really made me feel important. I asked him to help me find new glasses but be 100% honest about whether they suited me. We had the frames I chose and he went off and came back with some other styles. Through a process of elimination a pair were chosen and choice number two was brought back in the mix to become my new driving glasses. I didn't feel rushed in anyway. He was very knowledgeable and explained the cost breakdown in full. 10/10 for Jack
