My husband and I popped into The Carpenters Arms for a drink.
It consists of a small cosy pub at the side, a larger French based restaurant on the other side, and a lovely tiered garden at the back.
It's has a warm cosy atmosphere.
All of the staff were efficient, friendly, and quick to serve people.
We didn't eat but the food looked really good.
We hadn't been for a while but will be soon as it has such a lovely atmosphere.
Nick, the manager, is so friendly, professional, and clearly loves what he does.
It's such a brilliant pub.
There is a car park too.
It's also very dog friendly.

I had some lunch today (midday Friday) in between meetings and was blown away by the food. I had gazpacho for starter and steak frites for main as part of a ~£20 set menu. My wife had stake for mains as well but had prawns with new potatoes for starter. All 3 dishes were superb. I couldn't fault them at all. The gazpacho was cold and crunchy, the prawns were juicy and the steak was percectly done. It was the most tender minute steak I've had and they managed to get a nice char on the outside whilst keeping the inside medium which I was very impressed with. Also the peppercorn sauce was so nice I had to drink the rest. Highly recommend it. They do neck oil too.

The best!! My family have lived in the area for a number of years and somehow we only discovered this place in the last year or so. Every time we have been the food is perfect and the service is always brilliant - they also have a lovely terrace on the pub side for summer evenings (where you still can order off the full French menu).
All in all 10/10 - highly recommend!

We are five female friends who work at a local school and fancied a few drinks. We loved sitting outside at the Carpenters with our drinks. Lovely refreshing white wine spritzers, dog friendly too. I so fancied an Irish coffee which can be quite a faff in some pubs. However at the Carpenter's nothing was too much trouble. Both Irish coffees were deliciously smooth and made with real cream!!! Mmmmm!!! We would all gladly walk down again ....see you at the end of term!!!! Very friendly staff made such a difference !!!

The most amazing people. We went to a wedding reception there yesterday and the food was outstanding. The staff were so friendly and bubbly. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I was so impressed with how they did everything. It was truly an impressive fabulous day. Thank you guys so much

Attended a wedding in the restaurant. Food, service and ambiance all amazing. We had taken over the restaurant and outdoor space. As the weather was kind had a wonderful time!

Had a weekend break away and found this pub as we wanted to watch the Champions league final.
Felt a bit uncomfortable at first as we weren't locals but once we sat down had a couple of drinks it was fine.
Had a lovely meal, delicious bottle of malbec and watched the game.
Went back Sunday afternoon for dinner which was exceptional!!
The guy who waited on us Saturday evening recognized us and was so attentive and friendly.
Absolutely cracking pub !
Definitely be coming back.

OMG, this place is a hidden gem. Staff, service and quality is off the charts. The pub garden is a sun trap too!
