Last year I purchased Owatrol?s wood cleaner, Ne-Trol, and their clear varnish, Deks Olje D1, in order to prepare and varnish my driveway gates this spring having had them installed last year. I was advised to let the wood weather in the meantime. Following instructions from the office as well as what was written on the tin, Net-Trol was extremely effective and straightforward to use. The varnishing is a labour of love as the gates took 4 coats but worth it. I showcase one leaf of the gates and the other cleaned leaf as well as the posts which shall be varnished tomorrow. Excellent service and excellent products!

My garden has been a longer project and I bought the Shed & Fence Paint (Blue) about 2 yrs ago.I wanted paint that doesn't need re-painting every year and had for some time been searching for a paint other than what I can get in B&Q. After several phone calls to Owatrol, I decided this was the paint for me. If it's good enough for ships, it's good enough for me!What I particularly liked about calling Owatrol is that is is family run. Everyone who picks the phone up, helps with advise from MD to the Father. Nobody were too important to chat paint, technique etc with me for ages; no pressure to purchase but when I decided to, they again were most helpful. Payment taken easily and delivery within 2 days. Very good!The fence panels in the pictures were painted 12-15 months ago so spring 2018. The deck got one coat with Aquadeck (Ebony) also last year. This however hadn't weathered so well or maybe it was the friend who applied it. So I have spent the weekend scrubbing and cleaning to be repainted by myself as then I know where to point the blame if it weathers the same next year! This time, 2 coats were applied.Both paints are great to paint, lovely consistency and applies well. Love how the fence paint is totally unaffected by weather and has stood up well so far in terms of fading. I have retouched here and there, added a new gate to the garden which is now also blue and you cannot tell the difference from what was applied last year to what I did last month. As mentioned, I had several phone calls worth of advice. Part of this advice was to use Net-Trol to clean the deck. So duly purchased. Came up a treat in readiness for painting.People always comment about the blue/ebony effect as contempory and stylish. I'm very pleased as in fact, the end result is better than I had imagined.The pictures show different sections of the fence. The deck is part painted so you can see what it scrubbed up to. The paint was then applied straight over with a 2 inch brush - I'm sure you can use other methods to apply but I like to get everywhere.The picture from the gravel path shows after 1 coat.The pictures with the sun loungers are after 2 coats and now finished.Takes about 4 hrs to dry so both coats done in 1 day.
