I to try not to leave bad reviews given the problems the catering industry has had recently post covid. However, I have to agree with the previous review by (Sickened A). You would have thought paying £55 a head for Christmas dinner would have given you good service and food to match. Unfortunately, it failed on both and quite frankly ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable day out as a family.

We came here for our Christmas dinner,and loved every course, food was hot and didn't have to wait long in between course's, staff were very attentive, Definitely come back again next Christmas. Well done to all staff

So disappointed with our Christmas festive meal. The restaurant was cold and we had pre ordered our meal weeks before and there was lots missing and had substitutes which is not acceptable. Our mains came out very cold so had to send two back. We were not offered any sauces with our Christmas Dinner. Our desserts took a whole hour to arrive aswell as our drinks. I choose this pub dining as normally so happy with our meals here but it just didn't seem the same place and just so short of staff I could see the waiters were trying there best but the food was poor. They did apologise but very disappointed as have been coming years

Absolutely awful!! Came for dinner. We come regularly and each week and it has been getting worse over the past few months. Feel I need to now leave a review as it has gotten so bad. Pub was absolutely freezing, there was no heating on and the lovely welcoming fires were unlit. This pub used to be so lovely at this time of the year but now it is a cold unwelcoming mess. Cigarettes ends all over the worn and tired looking entrance, summer umbrellas still up, soaked and falling all over the place, tired and unkempt throughout. The standards have dropped to an all time low, regular customers have stopped coming and the only trade that seems to arrive is Christmas parties which will soon be over. People complaining at their tables regarding cold food. Lots of people complaining about the pub being cold. Had to wear our coats throughout our visit and meal which we were told would take 90 minutes to arrive as only one person working in kitchen!! Saw people arrive to cancel their Christmas Day meals whilst we were there!! There are no standards anymore at this once fantastic pub-why are you allowing this Greene King??? Your prices are far from cheap so why is nothing being done here? I would like an explanation of why I as a regular customer should return?

We were a large party for the Christmas menu. We pre booked the food. Very disappointed on this occasion as normally a lovely place. Table booked for 1930, main courses came out at 2045. The food was only ok. Most people in the group did not like the vegetables. However the main part of the meals was ok. Desserts finally server about 10pm. They did not have enough glasses or correct/clean cutlery. Ended up with soup spoons with desserts. Very slow to serve or clear tables. But the staff were friendly. One of our party ended up clearing some of the plates. Even though we pre ordered they did not have one if the desserts and had to substitute

We visited on a Friday lunchtime and the food was nice?. When we finally got to order. There only appeared to be one girl behind the bar and she was clearly struggling to keep up with serving everyone. I had to wait a good few minutes before we could order. Our menu choices were available, however, I ordered one of the Christmas cocktails on the menu but, as the staff member couldn?t find this on the till, I swapped to having a glass of wine. Whilst ordering, a grumpy woman poked her head round the corner and appeared to tell the girl off who was desperately trying to serve at the bar. I didn?t catch exactly what was said other than the woman said there was food standing around getting cold as If the girl behind the bar was also supposed to be serving food as well as bar tending, anyway, I felt the woman?s tone was unnecessarily brusque and unprofessional. She could have had a quiet word instead of speaking to a colleague in this manner in earshot of the customers. The dining area down the far left hand side of the pub was also very cold. It was a cold day and the heating didn?t seem to be working. We kept our coats on as we ate and there was a lady on the next table wearing a woolly hat! If there was an issue with the heating I feel we should have been warned, especially as I had my 83-year old mother with me. We have always had great service in the past but this was not the best of visits. I?m not in a hurry to return.

Very disappointed with the Stars payment process. The table was pre booked and we opened a tab when we arrived. The service and food were okay however, when we came to settle the bill payment with a 50 pound note this was refused. We argued because if the payment is to settle a debt (e.g.: for a taxi ride, a meal in a restaurant etc) then it is illegal to refuse legal tender. Disappointed the staff were unaware of this. We ended up paying by card but our afternoon was ruined and the missed out on hour tip.

Busy Friday lunch but managed to find a table, staff lovely very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and we didn?t have to wait too long for our food, however I wasn?t impressed with my steak and ale pie which is supposedly an award winner, pie was so overcooked and dry I cooked hardly cut into it, not much meat in the filling, mash was ok but not as creamy as I?d like, broccoli was nice all in all a bit of a let down ??

Very disappointed with our night out with family as it was my 75th birthday we had to wait 1 hr 10 min for food asked for a jug of water none arrived two burgers were over cooked also no cheese sauce .Yorkshire pud on the roast was flat as a pancake.over all the food was ok and the bar staff gave a discount.don?t think we will be returning .

Stopped for dinner after work . Pub is lovely inside and staff were very friendly and attentive. Lots of choice on the menu , and deals available . Meals came out quickly , hot and delicious . Couldn?t fault the food or the service - and highly recommend the chicken schnitzel . Will definitely be back ?

Amazing friendly lunch today. Lovely staff who made my chi very happy with a dog menu and gave her lots of fuss. Adapted the menu for us and we?re so friendly throughout our lunch. Very tasty attractive food Will definitely visit again ?

Went with my mister?s for casual date night. Had Camembert sharer as starter. Mixed grill and chicken schnitzel as mains. Was great service and lovely food. Finished with some nice new desserts. Mister?s had sticky toffee pudding and I had new biscuit cheesecake that despite being vegan tasted so good, if I wouldn?t red it myself, I wouldn?t ever guessed was plant based. Mister?s enjoyed her cocktails made by lovely landlady named Vicki. Big shoutout to all staff for great atmosphere a specially to chef Kerry for making sure our meals come out hot and tasty. Definitely will be back

We visited this place on 16th August 2023. My family and I were very disappointed with the fact that we couldn't order the meals we wanted from the menu. The salmon was not available. The gammon was not available. The Fish and Chips was not available. The meal I look forward to, Mussels in Wine, was no longer provided. The waiter looked very embarrassed with the whole situation. It was a frustrating and a totally disappointing experience.

Waste of time. Where do I start, 1. Ordered some drinks, ordered a pint of lemonade, got a pint of lager. Ok. I thought, not a problem. Mistakes happen 2. Ordered starters, The wrong starters arrived., Ok I thought, just bad luck 3. Ordered mains. The wrong mains arrived (couldn't be bothered to comlain any more), plus my roast beef would have been better as shoe leather as it was that tough. 4. Afters, well They forgot about us. 5. Coffee. I think it was coffee. It was vile. Service poor, food bad, never, never again.
