I payed £300 for glasses. Got them on a Fri took them back on a Monday had blurry vision &the manager didn't want to know he's said there nothing they can do about it !!. And I'm not the only one with that problem, talked to people about it and same thing happened to them .they are quick enough taken your money. But don't help you ??. So I'll go to boots now witch they are lovely people. I'll will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!!. ?

Waited 6 weeks for a pair of glasses still waiting after 5 visits to the shop.I was told on 4 occasions they would be available in a couple of days but they didn't arrive.The manager was meant to phone today but that hasn't happened either, abysmal service !! Wanted to give no stars but google wouldn't let me.

It was easy to make the appointment and on arrival , the main desk was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction.
The wait wasn?t too long and the optician was very thorough with her details and explanation.
Very nice experience.

I want to give 0 stars but I don?t think this is possible. The lady from downstairs sent me upstairs and when I got there there was no one at the reception. It was my first time at that store so I didn?t know where I was going. I went to look for someone to help me because it was close to closing time. I went to ask for help to someone that was chatting on their phone, and as I said excuse me an older guy came from nowhere and said to me, he is the manager you don?t talk to him, and I was just chocked and said oh I am sorry, how am I supposed to know that? He was like, this is not an office you just go there. The receptionist, even though she was very polite, was not where she was supposed to be, I have never been there before and I was late. They were closing. I knew that I might have missed my daughter?s appointment. I just wanted someone to help me with rescheduling. But that guy, I am sorry, but I am a paying client and I refuse to be treated that way! Thank you for all the other staff that was really polite but I just refuse to be treated that way. I went to boots opticians to book an appointment and even my 8 year old daughter said, wow mommy, those ladies were a lot more polite! Nothing else to say. They called me, but I am sorry, the manager saw all of these happening and did nothing. He was also at fault as well in my opinion!

Specsavers is okay the appointments are mostly given are upstairs but for wheelchair users or for the elderly can be offered Downstairs if pre booked and depends on availability.

Very friendly although I has booked a downstairs appointment due to my husband being disabled. Luckily on the day he just about managed the stairs.

2 years after being diagnosed as needing cataract surgery and going for the pre assessment and then being refused, I was told it still might be refused. I need to drive so in the end I had to pay privately. Unprofessional service and muddled advice, chin rest falling off machine during eye test, etc.

Edit 2024: upgraded from 3 to 4 stars. On my most recent visit the member of staff did wipe the machine down before my pre-tests but there was still a 30 minute wait after my scheduled appointment time before I was called in for my examination with the Optician, without explanation or apology. The staff were otherwise very helpful and i'm pleased with the quality and fit of the glasses and lenses.
Edit 2021: wanted to give Specsavers another try when my eye test was due because of the thoroughness of the testing and the new OCT scan. Although they don't seem to be offering free tests at the moment and the OCT scan was an additional £10, I was pleased that they were much more transparent about my prescription than on my previous visits, making it clear they there had been no clinical change, so I didn't need to change my glasses. I was however surprised that the operator of the OCT scanner wasn't wearing a mask, despite signs reminding patients that it is a healthcare setting and therefore face coverings are required. Thankfully she didn't need to get too close but she did have to be asked to wipe the machine down by the next patient after I'd used it! I asked if it had been wiped before my examination, as I had just assumed was standard procedure and was told that it had been, but that they only sanitise the scanner "after every few" people!!! Even pre-pandemic, I would have expected the machine to be wiped down between patients! There were signs on the doors stating that the consultation rooms were cleaned between each person so I was disgusted that the machines against which people put their face weren't sanitised between every use. This again seemed contrary to the signs claiming very high standards of hygiene and surface sanitation for staff and patients. I'm therefore still only giving a 3/5 but for different reasons. The Optometrist I saw was very pleasant and professional and talked me through my 3D scans when I showed an interest. There was a shield around the microscope and at the checkout, where payment via contactless card was encouraged.
