Really great that we have a bank in the town still but it would be great if staff could give the cash point a wipe so that you could see the screen. It is all absolutely filthy

Over the years I have Lloyds bank and staff really supportive. However, yesterday evening I attended the bank to deposit some cash only to find no deposit envelopes available. Returned this morning, a one off trip, and queued up outside the bank with five other ladies. At 9.09 a note was placed on the inside of the door to say due to staff shortages the bank would be closed for the rest of the day. Still no deposit envelopes in the lobby. This cash needs to be paid into my account to meet bills today. Now, to minimise the charges to my account I will have to travel to Hitchin or Stevenage and pay parking fees to deposit the cash. Additional expense and time lost. I know staff can?t help being sick but an apology and alternative methods of paying in or leaving documents would have been appreciated. One of the ladies in the queue and tried to do the same as myself yesterday evening and I turned two more people away as I left.

Clean branch with welcoming staff, though it can feel slightly understaffed at busy periods.

Being new to the UK,I went into the Biggleswade branch to find out about ISAs and to apply for a credit card. From my previous banking in Europe and Africa, these kind of accounts could only be opened in person. The young 'financial advisor' aka 'sales consultant' repeatedly focussed on why I don't have Household insurance with them and whether I would like a quote.. Seriously -- banks are regularly on the bottom of insurance comparison sites, since this is not their primary product! Surely! Did he give me advice on which interest rate in which product is the best? No Did he give me advice on whether ISAs are taxed on 20 or 40%? No He basically concluded that since both accounts could be opened from my online banking, I should just do my own research at home. That's right, young advisor, work your way out of a job in this new Information Age, by not being a filter and data concentrator and analyst. Of course I can "Google it". The point of going into a branch is to get validation from an authority on all the jumble you find online.
