The seventh circle of hell. I arrived only about 15mins after it opened on Sunday. The carpark was chaos. A delivery lorry was blocking circulation of it so lots of people were having to turn in the disabled spaces to get round the carpark. Packed with traffic and no empty spaces.

Felt uncomfortable in this shop. Firstly walking in was just stared at by the guy at the entrance. Then a guy who could be the manager in a red Christmas jumper just staring at me as I walked through the store. Another staff member bumped into me with a plastic tray whilst putting stock out, I did the British thing and apologised even when I don't think it was my fault, staff member said nothing an walked off. I am mixed raced with a more Asian appearance, but it was just weird being stared at with hat I felt was prejudice by one of more south east Asian appearance and one of Asian appearance

Wouldn?t let me park the van in the parking spaces outside the store window because they couldn?t see the pumps? No choice but to park in an unsafe place, terrible attitude towards customers

Bakery display looks like it has been robbed.
Behind the display there are trays of products waiting to be packed and sold.
Unfortunately there isn?t anyone in store-according to the very helpful colleague-who could go and place the items on display and operate the bakery printer?
Asked if i could hang around until 18:00 and maybe someone will come and will be able to operate the printer. Just for clarity the store isn?t understaffed, plenty of colleagues doing replenishment.
No senior management in store. Maybe an up-skilling session or 2 to prevent future disappointment and feedback like this?!

This afternoon I attended the store with my Mum to purchase some items.
We decided to treat ourselves to some of the pastries on offer, but as I approached the bakery counter I was amazed to see the staff member moving cheese muffins & cakes along the tray with her bare hands. I asked the other staff member close by whether she thought that was acceptable? She replied it was policy NOT to wear gloves. She went on to say their policy is to wash their hands every 30 minutes!.
I couldn?t believe what I was hearing.
She went on further to tell me that her hands were clean having washed them 30 minutes ago.
I asked her what she did after she?d washed her hands 30 mins ago, and that I didn?t care what their policy said, as a customer, I didn?t want my food pawed by anyone before I ate it. And furthermore, I asked her why they put out tongs for customers if the staff are going to disregard this and touch the food with bare hands?
A manager became involved in the discussion and said she would take my concern on board (Really???)
I noticed at that point 2 other customers standing at the counter waiting to be served had decided to change their minds by this time (smart move)
Aldi, Morrisons & Lidl staff all wear gloves when working behind the bakery, so why is it a store such as M&S think they should be exempt?!?!
It?s disgusting and I will definitely be contacting Environmental Health.
I was pleased to see the staff member had a protective hair net on;5 stars for that, but what point is a hair net when your bare hands are all over the food?
Your policy may say you should wash your hands every 30 minutes but that doesn?t mean you have!

M&S retail park branch always deserves 5 stars for customer service! Leaving this review to highlight how the staff member (Lisa) on the self serve till looked miserable, cutting her eyes at me when I simply asked for a bag. It was all too much effort for her to assist me & she was rather rude & unfriendly, training required.

Absolutely appalling the way they treat a black person who comes into the store. I went into the store today to get a few bits for work. As I go to checkout security is called on me whilst am checking out. He was busy watching me to see if I am going to run of with the goods. Once I paid he backed off. This is really intimidating and rude. They didn?t do that for other people in the store of a different race. But every time I go to this store it is the same thing. Do you think black hard working people can?t afford to pay for m&s. This black profiling needs to stop. It is disgusting and repulsive that in this day and age someone can?t shop in peace without being followed like they going to steal. Even in Harrods I don?t get this treatment. M&S Bedford you need to do better.
